And of course, one of the city’s most famous film festivals is the New York International Children’s Film Festival. This is easily one of the largest film festivals for children in not only the United States, but North America as well. This festival is held from late February to mid March.

The very first annual Craic Gay and Lesbian Festival in New York took place this year on June 24. It took place during their pride week in Manhattan, and was designed for gays in Ireland to take part on this special occassion. It was for one night only, and they celebrate Irish gay film makers,etc. They are based out of the New York City area, as well as Ireland. The program included many shows as well as live action comedy shows. They start out with a reception followed by the actual show. This festival is going to continue on every year around the same time for the week of pride. Some special guests that showed up included Christine Quinn, and Daniel Dromm. This event is free with the choice of a donation at the front door. There is a reception before and even after the show, with free drinks. This is definitely something that you cannot miss out on. The next time it comes around, it is expected to grow even bigger, with more and more people coming out. This is an excellent way for Irish gays to show their pride as well. Under the auspices of El Al, Israel’s official airline, the Government of Israel and many friends of Israel in America , the 25th IsraFest Anniversary held in New York City was a resounding success.

The goal of IsraFest is to shed light upon and heighten awareness of the film and television industry of Israel through the presentation of films, documentaries, dramas and student film creations highlighting life and culture in Israel.

IsraFest, established in 1982, is an outgrowth of the dreams of its founder, Meir Fenigstein who came to America in the early 1980s to study jazz at Boston College of Music.You can find a quick rundown here In his early days, Fenigstein had performed as a drummer with an Israeli rock band.

Box office receipts for this year’s festival were in excess of 1,000,000. In addition to this achievement, the film ‘The Matchmaker’ won an award carrying a purse of 60,000 which will be used for film production in Israel and to provide scholarships for film school education in Israel.

This year, the IsraFest Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to American-born Stanley Donen who was touted by Fenigstein for his efforts to enhance the Israeli film industry in the United States and around the globe.

There are many film festivals held in New York each year; the most famous of which is the Tribeca Film Festival. There are so many film festivals held in New York because the city houses many artists who create, write, produce, direct and act in indie and blockbuster movies.

Creative people like to flock to New York City because there are great film schools like those at NYU and Columbia, and because many studios have offices in New York, and so there is a lot of work to be found in the city. New York is also a mecca for those involved in films because the city is so large that they have a ready-made audience to come and support them.

The biggest film festival in New York was started by Robert De Niro and is called the Tribeca Film Festival. It runs every year in the late Spring and features entries from well-known actors and directors and from amateurs, who are trying to make their mark in the industry. Some of the other film festivals that are held in New York are: the New York Film Festival, the African Film Festival, the Woodstock Film Festival and the New York International Child Film Festival.
