Why So Many Film Festivals Are Held In New York

There are many film festivals held in New York each year; the most famous of which is the Tribeca Film Festival. There are so many film festivals held in New York because the city houses many artists who create, write, produce, direct and act in indie and blockbuster movies.

Creative people like to flock to New York City because there are great film schools like those at NYU and Columbia, and because many studios have offices in New York, and so there is a lot of work to be found in the city. New York is also a mecca for those involved in films because the city is so large that they have a ready-made audience to come and support them.

The biggest film festival in New York was started by Robert De Niro and is called the Tribeca Film Festival. It runs every year in the late Spring and features entries from well-known actors and directors and from amateurs, who are trying to make their mark in the industry. Some of the other film festivals that are held in New York are: the New York Film Festival, the African Film Festival, the Woodstock Film Festival and the New York International Child Film Festival.
